Solicitor required - must be licensed for Scotland

My NIP for alleged speeding is getting complicated (see: www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?f=10&h=&t=53660) and I now want to talk to a solicitor.

I searched around the web and found motoring specialist solicitor Geoffrey Miller (tel [phone]), but was told that he is only licensed to work on cases in England.

Can anyone help me find a solicitor experienced in motoring offences in Scotland?

My NIP response is due back on Sept 1st, so it's getting URGENT.

I saw a re-run of 5th gear last week in which Quinton Whatshisname debunked all the speeding charge get outs. He even said if you put a foreigners name on the nip the BiB check up with the country he came from, airport and flight records to conform they were in the uk at the time!! Laugh? nearly fell of the chair.

How about I hame my Mum as the driver on my NIP? She lives in France with an English licence & passport but wasn't here when I got flashed.

Guys, whilst this is all very interesting, I REALLY NEED the name of a good solicitor who is experienced in speeding offences in Scotland. I'm not trying to dodge this charge, I just need official advice/representation on what to do if the accompanying video evidence is unclear. Perhaps the answer is just to name the list of potential drivers, but if I don't go about that the correct way, with the correct legal language/process, then it may not suffice, and I could end up on some other charge!!!

Surely someone can help. Any Scottish based PHers reading this?

Cheers craigw. That didn't help much as there was no motoring/vehicle/speeding type of category. Only "transport" which was no use.

Contrary to misconception, Scotland is rather large. Can you be a bit more specific where in Scotland you were stitched up, er caught, er allegedly caught ?

Need to be careful should we meet professionally, but generally there are a few small, local firms into this stuff, none I would recommend nationwide though.

It was in Fife (Fife Constabulary, Glenrothes) bobthebench. Can you help with the name of a firm experienced in these matters?

Yes it is rubbish. If your car was driven by some visitor from the USA, the scamera partnerships demand flight details and threaten you with checking up on this. But you discharge your obligation under S172a) by giving them the USA address and they certainly in one case I can name did not bother to make contact by phone, fax or email. However I could perhaps see them using the surplus dosh that they are awash with in paying for such jollies.

Thanks lucozade and jeffreyarcher. I'll give these guys a call.

Latest is that BiB send me a couple of stills from the alleged offence which are very unclear. There's a blob driving with what looks like a long haired (perhaps female) blob in the passenger seat.

I have an appointment to view the video in person next weekend to see if that's any clearer.

After that I need to decide how to respond to the NIP.
