Sadly i feel that the time has come for me to bow out of Speeding Plod and the Law and General Gassing.
I feel, as did Gemini a few months ago, that the pleasure has all but gone.
I used to enjoy being able to say/write whatever i wanted and how i wanted to say it without really thinking with my professional hat on.
Recently, ive had to defend what ive said against replies, which quite frankly are not properly thought out and which i feel are genuinely trying to provoke me because of my occupation.
The last straw was today when i received a rude email which quite frankly i can do without.
Thanks for the good topics and well constructed discussions over the past few months and the friends that ive made.(please feel free to email me).
Im not looking for sympathy or anything, i just wanted people to know what the current situation is.

I've been watching this happening over the last couple of weeks. You find a nice bloke who's prepared to explain how he does his job and then the abuse starts. Well, for all those who got in there with their smartarse comments, I hope it was worth the points you scored.

Exactly, ignore the moron. Just carry on posting but leave off trying to help people if all they can do is be wnakers. It really upsets me when the narrow mindedness of a few people can ruin it for the majority.
To be honest. Every good copper who has come onto the board and been honest and helpful and expressed their opinion has come in for flak.
Some of it warranted. Most not.
On behalf of the vast majority of PHers who benefit greatly from the input of contributors like yourself, Gemini, Madcop and others I would ask you to reconsider.
By all means hang around the forums and stay away from contentious areas - after all you are supposed to be having FUN - but please don't give up altogether. I know that I, for one at least, would consider PH considerably the less without you and your colleagues.

SP&L is only useful because there are BiB who comment. I know there's often jokes about donuts (which I'm sure you've heard loads of times before).
Please don't let the actions of a minority ruin the forum for everyone else.
At the end of the day, your involvement is your choice, but it would be a shame to lose your input.
Hopefully I'll see you tomorrow night, and we'll be able to make you see how appreciated you are by the over-whelming majority on here.

Sad news all round. Rich... Sorry to hear about the abusive email Tonyrec. I'd like to echo what others have said about SP&L only being useful because of the contributions you and the other BiBs make. Without this it risks becoming a whinging shop of little practical value.
I hope you will re-consider and maybe instead Ted will eject those PH'ers who feel the need to be abusive.
And to those who think it's big or clever to have a go at the BiBs that we look to for help and advice when the shit's hit the fan - I hope you catch some very nasty sexually transmitted infection.

Sorry to hear that you feel that way Tony, I hope you will reconsider once you've had a break because I've really enjoyed reading your interesting and informative posts helping us understand a Trafpol's duties and attitudes. Your "useful tool" and "most annoying public reaction" quizes are good examples of how you've turned this forum from a "help me avoid prosecution" into a "help me improve my roadcraft" kind of place.

Oh dear, and please Tony dont go. You arent the only one that has been pi55ed off by some of the extreme elements of PH and I am sure that I will get to the point that I feel that I will have to quit - but dont please....
I certainly do understand the problems with modern policing and a balanced approach is what we need - rather than the one sided crap that is so often posted here....
Dont let the bastards get you down - at least its just and email and you have the ultimate power to simply delete it.... People can be hurtful and stupid at the best of times - in this case they are simply moronic and should be removed from the gene pool.... but unfortunately there is a law against that....

Without sounding crushingly embarressing i quite like your posts because you do post your opinion and as we know, they don't always match the company line.
i do apreciate that.
I also find it interesting how the opinions of each of the BiB on this forum differ regarding certain subjects. This is something i have noticed after looking at various threads on particularly this page.

If there are disrespectful postings here then please make use of the 'report abuse' link on the top right hand side of the page. This is what alerts me and the moderators to any unwelcome crap on here.
Use it and we can step in and throw off trolls and delete their posts. Please don't just sit by and say PH is going downhill - with your help standards can be maintained.

As with other BiBs, I am saddened to see such a decision - again.
And - again - because some plonker has decided to email their words of wisdom personally to the BiB concerned rather than post publically. Coward.
I have to say I've always been amazed that BiBs have spent much time and effort posting advice, legalities, and tales from the job - in their spare time - and taken some good-natured discussion, and some bad. I'm sure you get enough crap on the job without taking any in your time off.
