Actually there are 2:

1) When we refer to a Talivan are we referring to every single van that houses a Speed camera of some sort, or a specific type of van?

2) Can Talivans be plain looking or are they all the white vans with the speed camera logo's on them?

The reason I ask is that there is an older, plain red van parked near my house which everyone is convinced houses a speed camera. Could this be the case?

Ah... the 'should they have markings on them' question.

It appears that different forces can do what the hell they like (there are a couple of websites out there showing the discrepancies). I believe forces are gradually signing up to a code but at present, they can look different in different areas.

And yes, they can be unmarked, as the South Wales ones where when they were first put on the road, now they just have a little camera sign on the back with 'THINK' written on the side. Very useful!

Cheeky Beggers.

The van I'm on about is a red Ford Transit but is about 10 years old atleast. Do you reckon there is any chance they'd use a vehicle this old?

Wouldn't think so, although these are effectively civilian operations so might not be a rigorous as the plod themselves.

Must of cost them a bomb, that 10 year old van. Perhaps they're not catching enough people.
