Can anyone answer the question as to whether there is a time limit between an alleged speeding offence taking place and the notice of impending proceedings.

A number of people have said that there is a time limit. If the notice does not reach the alleged speeder within 2 or 3 weeks that the speeding penalty will be overturned if taken to court for effectively timing out.
Does anyone know this to be true or untrue, or know the laws on speeding in this country.

Regards Mike

Mike, there is an entire forum on PH dedictated to questions like this (and is poulated by some very helpful members of the Police community as well). I am going to transfer your post there so that it can get proper attention

If the offence was detected by a camera etc, then the Plod have 14 days to provide you with a NIP.

If the car is not registered to you or the address on the V5 is incorrect, then the time starts from when the Dibble have the correct info.

Try Speeding, Plod and the Law forum if you aren't satisfied with the above.
