Winchester - Test site for Gatso?

I've lived in Winchester for ages and driven past it hundreds of times but does anyone know whether the Gatso on the A30/33 towards Basingstoke just after it splits off from the A34 coming from Jct9 (IIRC) on the M3 is just a test site?

There's no warning signs for it and there have been numerous weird and wonderfull looking devices on top of that pole over the last couple of years ... on one occasion I got double flashed going past it at <30mph (I was stuck behind a tractor) when its a posted 50.

I'm pretty sure it's just a test site but just wondered if anyone knew for sure (and whether it's possible to get "done" from it since it's not warned of).

Well if you were passing there then you were only a couple of minutes from my door ... however if you were doing 85 up to that "camera" then you'd have had fun getting round the next two bends by the junction a little further along and the "old wrinklies" do tend to do lemming impressions across the road just round the next left hander!

Maybe it wasn't such a bad thing it scared the crap out of you!

But yes ... it's not "posted" that there's a camera along there and I have on several occasions had people get irate as I've backed off to 50 to go under the flyover, they've then overtaken me (using the ghost island) and been so busy mouthing and giving me the bird as they hare past that they don't see the camera until the last minute then almost roll their chariot braking for it!
