Fight against serious crime continues!
Discussion
Good to see my hard earned taxes being used to fight against serious crime this morning. i.e. two police cars, four policemen, one camera on tripod at the bottom of constitution hill outside brenda's house. The crime you ask ?? speeding of course!!! public enemy number one!!! All this effort to stop one empty cab on an empty road on a sunday morning at 0750 am.
I take you point gemini re the ANPR, I think thats unlikely though, there is very little traffic there on a Sunday morning. The location of the camera at the bottom of a wide, straight, long road with the camera/policemen partially hidden by trees seems to be a good place to catch speeders easily.
Gemini, perhaps this was an ANPR then, could well explain the two policecars and number of policemen. I'm all for finding uninsured drivers/stolen cars etc. having been knocked of my bike by an uninsured black cab driver who then left the scene !! unfortunately for him my wife was following in the car behind and got his number!!why do they need the camera though?? Maybe they were trying to catch Prince Harry driving one of his dads cars past his mums house !!!!! Infact I think more resources should be directed away from speeding and towards no insurance, no MOT, nicked cars etc.

The camera reads the number plate and then passes the reg thorugh a multitude of databases - if it get a "hit" then they come after you
registration, intelligence, PNC, insurance, tax, immmigaration etc
great tool for crime busting
