Finally got my court summons for the 92 in a 60 back in July. At the time, the unmarked car (silver Skoda in Wiltshire) dived past me on a roundabout and tried to get me to race him (i.e. sitting down in seats so I couldn't see his uniform, and waving as if 'go faster').

As I see it I've got a couple of options. Firstly is to simply plead guilty by post and hope for a few points and a fine (currently clean licence).

Secondly is to attend court and explain the circumstances.

The standard response is 'get a good lawyer' but paying thousands of pounds in legal fees is not an option.

I've also been told that I should write to the police chief of the force detailing the actions of the copper that pulled me.

Any experience of this? What do the Police think on this one??

Civvie on a speeding charge (which is worse than any crime on record) vs copper.

Ummm, sorry dude. Be prepared to get some serious pointage.

If you didn't complain about the copper's actions at the time then I wouldn't bring it up now as it will be seen as you trying it on!

Just because someone eggs you on doesn't mean your not guilty, however they could be charged with inciting!

Definitely no question about being guilty - I'm not contesting the speeding claim.

However the cop's actions were a bit dodgy IMO, and I was wondering whether it was worth bringing it up in order to try to reduce the points / fine and avoid a ban.
