Are you the type of person who after passing a lonely Trafpol on the other side of the road using a Laser, Flashes oncoming drivers to warn them of impending doom.

More to the point, do you feel guilty?

Please note that this is a Trafpol and NOT a Talivan.

Certaintly not, I only flash my lights when its appropriate to do so.

For times such as you describe I carry an enormous fold out neon sign!

Isn't that sort of behaviour illegal? in which case I wouldn't expect many around these parts to be testing their headlights during daylight hours.

I tend to stop, erect a large folding billboard with a note thereon to provide advance warning that law enforcement is in the area...

I bet the sign reads "TVRs proceed with absolute care for the next 400m"

yes I do... and if I have time - I stop turn the car around to face on-coming traffic on the now "wrong" side of the road and wave down the cars...being just round the corner from the speedgun. Thinking about getting a large sign with "speed trap ahead" written on. After all if I'm walking up and down the pavement I can't be breaking any laws.

Absolutely do flash other drivers. Whether trafpol or talivan.
Have been known to stop further up the road and actively warn other drivers too.
If, as we're always told, enforcement is only happening at legitimate accident blackspots, then surely all that someone doing this action is actually doing, is slowing down vehicles before they get to the accident area, and preventing accidents?
Who could possibly have a problem with that? Unless the aim is to simply catch as many drivers as possible? (suspicion).

I always flash and waive down approaching approaching drivers. Would love to do more but usually short of time.

Well, tonyrec, you know as well as I that the only acceptable meaning of a headlight flash is "I AM HERE!". It is a means by which a driver can communicate to others that their car is present and should be accomodated.

So would I announce to the world my presence shortly after seeing a speed limit enforcement team around a blind corner?

Why yes I would. No guilt. No shame. I want them to know where I am so they will avoid me so I can make safe onward progress. If there happens to be a side benefit in that they start paying attention to their driving as they pass me - well that makes it safer for me as well.

Its enlightened self-interest.

At the same time if I spot a driver behaving like an idiot and endangering others I will also do my best to assist in their apprehension and prosecution (and I am doing so currently with a case on the M4).

You see - I don't care who is manning the camera. Its the damn camera that's the problem. I want Trafpol to interpret the driving they see and act accordingly. I know its their job to man the camera - and I don't hold any rancour towards them for doing so. I just don't see the need to help in that particular case only.

No but I tried to be a retained fireman (but would have failed on eyesight). I always help my fellow men.

I was actually flashed by an oncoming police car during my driving test. I was waiting to turn right off the main carriageway when the oncoming cop slowed and flashed to let me know to turn.

Knowing the law I just sat there like a lemon until the BiB came to a complete stop.

Funny you should mention this, I've noticed that among the many electrical gremlins affecting the Jag, there's one which makes the headlights flash for about half a mile or so after I pass either Talivan or Trafpol speed traps. I've singularly failed to trace the cause of this problem. I can only put it down to the Lucas electrics.
