A colleague (yes, a colleague - check my postings yesterday) was Southbound on the M5 yesterday afternoon overtaking a caravan which was overtaking a low-loader, when he spied in his mirror a Volvo apparently travelling at just sub-sonic speed. My colleague accelerated to clear out of the way and as he passed the caravan he saw a policeman standing by a police car car on a ramp. The policeman was pointing a speed gun in the direction of my colleague's car and wagging his finger. He estimates his speed at an indicated 95 (so probably around 88/90 true). The Volvo was travelling at much higher speed and didn't slow down.

A few moments later the police car came past my colleague, lights ablaze, but with 'Debris' (or similar) displayed in the matrix in the rear window. Further down the motorway were the remains of a lorry's tyre tread which had separated from the carcass.

My colleague has checked on www.ukspeedtraps.co.uk/speed102.htm and says that the gun pointed at him did not appear to have a camera attached (as those on the website do). Are there guns that have the camera completely integrated into the laser?

He's wondering whether he's been snapped. I told him he should know within 14 days if he has.

Probably got away with it if wasn't stopped.
But there is no definite way of saying.
Just keep the speed down for the next 14 days and hope there is no NIP in the post.

I got followed by a dark blue volvo v80 on the M5 between bridgewater and weston thought nothing of it sat at between 85-95 for a few miles when i went to overtake an atsra towing a trailer and a lorry when astraman pulls out in to lane 3 overtakes and pulls back into lane 2 the volvo behind turns into a disco and pulls astraman over . I was very surprised not to be pulled for doing 95 .

By the Avonmouth exit about 3.50pm? I was in a blue merc that drove by at 69.9999mph.

My colleague e-mailed me this morning to announce that the postman had been and gone for the 13th time (no Sunday deliveries don't you know) and hasn't left a NIP. So he's rather relieved. Mind you, that means he'll be having a further 15 minutes in bed before he sets out to meet me in Swindon tomorrow
