Out of interest: does anyone know whether other "spy / revenue etc" systems (like trafficmaster / specs / "safety van" equipment etc) are jammed by laser jammers?

Oddly enough the only equipment that can be jammed by a laser jammer, has to rely on a laser for speed detection. Anything that uses a camera such as ANPR, SPECS and Trafficmaster will be unaffected.

Well ive had the testing done

Met up with the guy in Pangbourne and did a few runs.

He showed me all the features of the laser gun, I had a go on it as well (20/20 speedscope). It is terrifying how accurate and fast it is to get a reading, even from a bike! I managed to clock him quite some distance away with no jammers active.

Turns out my SLD920 is fine but the front jammer needed angling down a little as it was not 100% jamming at first.

Also saw the effect on the gun. Quite amusing. The poor little gun was trying its hardest to get a reading but couldnt quite do it

GET A JAMMER!!! Holding the gun freehand I could pick off a bike from a LONG way away. A car would be far easier.

You can reach him at laser.test@btinternet.com

Cost me £40 - best money I ever spent. Now I can concentrate on improving my riding and what I am doing rather than s hiding in bushes with lasers!

Yep.

Go to Pepipoo and look at the case files.

Therein is a case involving a motorcycle caught fraudulently by a laser gun from the rear.

A bit OT - Pies - I only asked whether or not Trafficmaster (and others such as SPECS, ANPR etc) would be jammed by a laser jammer because I was not sure of the technology behind the devices (not necessarily because I would like to jam Trafficmaster).

However, your comment got me thinking: it wouldn't take a great leap of imagination to guess that it may be possible to use Trafficmaster as a speed detection (revenue) device on individual cars because, as I understand it, the system currently reads a numberplate (or part of it), then reads it again at the next Trafficmaster location and thus calculates the average speed of the vehicle.

P.S. - at least it looks like a laser jammer would mess up Talivan man.

...
Apparently, it currently stores only a partial plate and discards the stored number as soon as the calculation is made. BUT, it could easily be converted and there are a lot of them already installed. It is perhaps fortunate that this government is against Nationalisation - Streaky

I'm guessing that it was £40 to test the fact that hsi laser jammer that was already fitted to the car was working properly?
