Well, 6 months ago I got a NIP in my wifes car. The form arrived for her so I dutifully filled it in (to save her the worry) named myself as the driver, scrawled a signiture and sent it back. Then the next NIP came to me. I sent it back 'Cant find license' and unsigned with a note saying my legal adviser had advised me not to sign it, blah blah. They returned the NIP with a short letter advising that a file WOULD be sent to the CPS and a Prosecution file MAY be raised AND I might receive a Summons. Big Deal, It Might Never Happen!

Well, the 6 months since I identified myself as a possible driver expires on the 2nd October.

Will the summons arrive tomorrow or have I made my escape. Gentlemen, ladies place your bets on tomorrow's post bag! I'm waiting with baited breath also!

I think I read something about the paperwork having to be sent to the court within 6 months, you could recieve a summons after that...

Joust, I live in Notts. I expect mail today but hope the Summons isn't there. I will go to ct if I have to but it would be a pain.

check out the SP&L forum.
I believe that the documents have to be presented to court within 6 months. After that the summons can come at any time, even years later.

Apart from anything else, if you signed her NIP, then she's in the clear - like when David Beckham or some other tosspot footballer got off, as his manager signed the NIP and they argued that the manager wouldn't know who was driving.

Or was this the point you were making and it went whoosh over my head?

Thanks Liszt. I shall trawl over there later.

Byff, thanks also. My point was it's now 6 months since I identified myself as the driver. To date I haven't been summonsed and I thought the summons had to be issued within 6 months and served via the post or personal service.

Yes it was. Camera at Mansfield near the college. Still can't find it so maybe it was hidden mobile?
