I have yet to walk the streets and ascertain how many spaces there are per house where I live but I'm estimating that there is about one space to every 3 or 4 houses in the zone I live.

It doesn't take an Einstein to fathom that parking is difficult. Luckily we are close to the town centre and also the station, so many people don't have cars.

My question is - is there a legal or guideline limit as to how many spaces there should be per house in a residents parking zone?

Cheers!

There may be for new developments, but I don't think there's one for existing housing. I guess your local council will have opted for local control of parking, so you can rest assured that they will do everyhing in their power to restrict the number of spaces available so that they can rake in cash from parking fines.

Strange you should say that - there's been a car in a 30min space on our street for 1 month - it's collected 1 ticket.

And we are talking 3rd in the league of parking tickets Reading. I guess cos we're on the edge it's too far for too few tickets
