Noticed this yesterday. Brand new infra-red forward facing camera, only put in 2-3 weeks ago, squashed completely flat.

Lots of tooting as people noticed when they passed Brands Hatch. Couldn't help joining in.

Would have been a difficult job too, as it was put behind a barrier which seperated it from the road.

I wonder how much thats going to put up my next council tax bill?

Ridiculous place to put a scamera - it's only there to catch drivers coming in and out of brands - tossers

Criminals - nobody thinks of all the hospitals and schools (that all this money could build)

It's not just the cost of the new 'scamera' and its installation either. There's the additional cost of the CCTV that will now be installed to watch over it; and the salary and benefits (including pension - probably index-linked) of the person recruited to watch the CCTV; and the salary and benefits (including pension - probably index-linked) of that person's new manager; and their recruitment costs; and the cost of the reports they will produce; and the salary and benefits (including pension - probably index-linked) of someone recruited to read, analyse, collate and publish those reports; and the salary and benefits (including pension - probably index-linked) of their new manager; and their recruitment costs; and ...

Need I go on?

Bollocks if we want cash for schools and hospitals there are accepted ways of doing it.

We could use murderers as slave labour to build schools and hospitals but we don't subsidise public works with criminals resources...

Although perhaps we should...

Well, must have been a good earner cos they're putting it back together today. Old one being pulled out, brand new one being put back in.

I wonder how long before it gets trashed again. No sign of any spy cameras put up.

For a while, the lens on the Truvelo camera by the Tonbridge sliproad on the A21 had been painted over... the same colour as the camera's housing. Looked a very neat job and you wouldn't notice anything was wrong at first!

To be honest anyone caught by that camera must be blind and stupid. There must be at east 4 warnings it is there, and all of them are obvious!

I agree! especially as you either exit there or climb the hill before road narrows to single lane... not the cleverest location to put it. Just wonder how many yellow photos KCC had to go through before they realised there was paint on the lens. But why people feel the need to slow down to 60 or 55 beats me... shows that they either can't keep a steady speed or don't know what the NSL is for dual carriageway.

Well it should be further up the hill as the danger point is where it merges into a single lane about a mile further on.

However whilst there have been big accidents where the lanes merge, they have recently carried out works to improve the merger position, therefore I would suggest that the road conditions have altered, and the accident figures prioir to those changes shouldn't count in justifying this camera.
