Dont bother getting the loonies...

Right, thats it I have had enough - off to see the local policeman later. I live on a road leading out of a small town which is sign posted as 40... Ok, so some people like going up and down at 50, but I am not here to pick on them.....
What I am going to rant about is the people that live about 1 mile up the hill. They are obviously loaded (live in a £500K house and have brand new cars) but seem to have a complete disregard for anything to do with speed limits. I nipped out for a cigarette and noticed that they were RACING up the hill passing cars and bouncing off the rev limiters. The first car was a BMW 3 series (M3 I believe) that was bouncing off the limiter in third - I know this cos I heard him change a couple of times before passing. I dont own an M3 so it is a guess, but I would have anticipated that this would be between 90-100 MPH!!!! Yet less than 40 minutes ago there was children walking home from school!!! And for most people to get off their drives you need to edge out on to the road - normally never a problem.
All sounds pretty bad - it gets worse! The road is on a curve and you cannot see beyond about 100 - 150 metres ahead. There are trees to one side and houses with walls to the other. No chance for avoidance, no chance to swerve and no chance for anything coming down the road to avoid them.... Lucky this time nothing happened. But this happens time and time again.
I will have a chat with the police and see what they can do.... Lets have a sweep stake here then - pick your response:
1) "Thank you sir, we will look into this" (A.K.A go away bissybody)
2) "Thank you sir, we have had other reports so we will go round and have a chat"
3) "Nothing we can do sir, we need evidence"
4) "Nothing to do with me - I do street crime"
5) "Come back tomorrow when you can talk to the community liasion officer"
Place your bets....
Cheers,
Paul

It'd be interesting because the same thing happens regularly on my street - which has a playground where all the kids play. Can't believe no-one has been hurt so far. There are a couple of island on the road and the other day I saw a Beemer losing the tail and missing a parked car by an inch
. Yes, I park my car on a back street !

I think the reply will be
Did you drive here sir ? Can we go and take a look at your car to see if we can nick you for anything ? Easier than doing that strange Police work..
If the Police really wanted to reduce accidents they ought to be around schools at pick up time - It really is like a demolition derby waiting to happen..
