Today's cover story on the local paper - every little bit helps.
Shame the AA can't remember what they used to be before they became an insurance company though.
Nick.

AA quote: Regional AA spokeswoman Alison Birkett said 98 per cent of accidents were in some way related to speed. "People who get angry at speed cameras are generally the ones who are not travelling at the right speed.
Funny that they're almost correct!! 100% of accidents are due to speed. If you don't ferkin move you can't have an accident!! TWAT
I complained to the AA about her comments and received this reply from her today:

Dear Mr X,
In reference to your email regarding my quote in the Bath Chronicle, I
believe what I said to the reporter was that around 95 per cent of accidents
are driver error, the rest I believe has been selective quoting.....Rather
than borrow copy from a shortened report by a reporter who was perhaps in a
hurry. The thoughts and views of the AA are contained in this document which
I have attached.
I hope this clears the matter............

She attached a document which is reasonably good but doesn't specifically call for a reduction in speed cameras but rather a more sentitive approach to their use. Better than nothing or supporting them I suppose but I would like the AA and RAC to come out with a statement that clearly asks for the number of speed cameras to be reduced and the intelligent policing of roads to be increased, by using police offiers.
