Police cars on bridges
Discussion
Cheers Daz, my speedo overreads a little anyway. Very light traffic as it's the school half term here. I was mainly in lane 1 all the way today, pulling out to pass the occasional car/truck. Perhaps up to 85 max to overtake then slow it back. Once of the most stress free journeys I ever had into work. I think I was obscured by a truck from the LIDAR anyways.

If you were lasered by one of these things, you would have to be chased and stopped yes?
I don't mean a talivan - I mean your ordinary bog standard T5 chase car...
there is no requirment to stop you at the time, the officers could put all the paperwork into the fixed penalty office, you can then expect a NIP

I have to disagree!
We are talking about a Trafpol car here. Theres absolutely no point in sending out an NIP if you havent stopped the driver. Basically you cant prove it so why bother.
Different if there was a camera attached.
From experience, if we set off after a speeder and we lose it (not often but it can happen) then im afraid that its put down to experience. Certainly wouldnt waste my time pursuing it any further.
The age old saying springs to mind,' they will come again'.

How many LIDAR units have camera devices attached then...? Do they come as standard on some or is it an add-on...? The one I passed this morning looke dlike it had a single large-ish lens on it. Whether that was for the LIDAR bit or the camera I dunno. didn't see any other lenses.
TIA,
