50 is the only green speed.
Discussion
Dear Mrs VW Polo driver.
I was very interested to read your rear window sticker, green circle with a 50 inside it. The accompanying text "50 is the only green speed." Obviously a mantra which you adhere to rigidly.
I was particularly impressed (not) with your such deep devotion to environmental issues that you continued at your green speed into the 30 and past that school at home time. The lollipop lady was equally impressed, I think she took your number. Perhaps it's to nominate you for a green award.
I lost sight of you after that due to being a very bad person I slowed down because of all the kiddy winks. I do most humbly apologise for all the extra pollution my car produced at the totally unenvironmental ungreen speed it was safe to travel at.
Yours sincerely,
FiF

The idea that 56mph/90kmh is the most economic is fallacy. This speed is quoted in constant speed consumption because it is the most common rural single lane road speed limit in Europe. Engines vary in their best economic rpm range, also cars gearing varies. A very aerodynamic sports car with a very high gearing for top speed will undoubtably be more economic at a slightly higher figure, similarly other cars may be more economic at lower speeds. On average 56mph/90kmh can be seen as an indicator to a reasonably economic speed.
I would contend that my 18 mph cruising speed on my BIKE is far more green than her 50 in her car. :P
Perhaps if she really cared she would not use her car at all, sounds like lives would be saved not only by reduced pollution!
Out of interest, did she have any other stickers proclaiming that her fat cat husband drove a 4 litre Jaguar?

Well it was a Welsh registration, also there were no stickers saying her hubby was a welly wearing.....[1]

Walking isn't green.
People produce more green houses gases than cars, possibly because there are more of them, but in statistical terms peoples biological processes cause more enviromental damage than cars.
And cows produce about three times as much green house gases as your average car, bang goes the idea of using my oxcart as work transport would be taked at 35% !

Met her sister in a silver Focus in the roadworks at Newbury. 50 miles an hour (in a 40) I'd pulled out as there was a car coming out of the services and undertook me when I wouldn't go any faster than the posted limit. Narrowly missed the car coming out of the slip road and gave me the finger when I flashed my headlights at her.
Stupid bitch.
Stupid bitch.
We've been told here in Scotland that disturbing the highland peat bogs for land drainage and tree planting has released more than twice as much carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere than all our vehicles combined. Add in industrial output, domestic heating and the aforesaid cows, private motorists are down in fifth or sixth place in the polluters list. The arguments put forward by David Begg and the rest, that the polluter should pay, simply don't make sense.
Of course cows are impossible to tax, or are they? Check this out http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/3005740.stm how long before Mr Brown gets wind of that idea and tries it on. No pun intended.
