I sent them a rant with my survey and I got a reply!

I think your survey is fairly blinkered in suggesting that that the only cause of accidents is speed, and to reduce casualties you need to lower speeds. That is simply not the case. Education and training are required to bring the standards of driving up. If people think that they are driving safely just because they are at or below the speed limit (regardless of other factors such as weather, traffic, and road surface conditions) then your partnership will never succeed in reducing casualties - you must educate people that INAPPROPRIATE USE OF SPEED can be dangerous. Furthermore you must train people to obey ALL ASPECTS of the highway code, pay attention to what they are doing, and punish them for offenses other than speeding - something that cameras are never going to be able to do.

Everything you say about education and training is true and is fully supported by West yorkshire Casualty reduction Partnership ... which is why the website exists as one of numerous outlets for help, guidance, education and information to all road users about keeping themselves and those around them as safe as possible.
I get the impression we also violently agree that if people think they're safe just because they are driving at or below the limit without regard to other factors such as weather etc, then they shouldn't behind the wheel in the first place!
For the record, though, our partnership is succeeding in reducing casualties, and there's been a lot of publicity recently in the local media about some of our achievements.
People ARE trained in all aspects of the Highway Code... when they're learning to drive. It's only after they've passed their test that so many get into bad habits like breaking the speed limit, whereby they put us all at risk of death and injury.
Thank you for participating in our survey. We plan to publish the results in the next week or so.We are always delighted to hear from concerned citizens like you, who recognise that the purpose of speed control safety cameras is to save lives and reduce the number of casualties on our roads.

Pay no attention to this Philip Gwynne moron. He burns the candle at both ends!
He tries to play it both ways at the same time.
I contacted him with a reasonable(for me at any rate) email which he broadly tended to agree with.
Yet when he went on the radio, he came across as the "all speeders should be hung" type of scumbag.
These basts have got more shite than a sewage farm.
Theye basically politicians that arent very good at lying...and not paid as much. But theyre still of the same ilk.
