Just to let you all know, there is a talivan in the layby about 2 miles north of the Stamford roundabout on the A1. I didn't see it until to late due to a slower moving lorry in the inside lane obscuring it from me until I was about 100 yards away from it. Hopefully the same worked in reverse as I'm pretty sure that someone jumped out of the front of it to try and zap me after I has passed it, fortunately doing 70 by then. Fingers crossed. Anyway, standard tactics, lovely straight dual carriage way, great vis., dry road. Presuming I do get a NIP, I shall pay up and take the points but also send a letter asking about it's positioning with three points:

1. Why was it positioned on a straight dual carriage way where, according to my RoadAngel, no accident blackspot exists.

2. Why is there not a camera south of the Stamford roundadbout where the A1 is reduced to 1 lane and a 40mph limit in place and, therefore, a safety hazard clearly exists.

3. Is it not affecting safety to park a van in a layby, therefore denying its use to people who actually need it, i.e. those who need to stop to rest or who have broken down.

A waste of time I know but you can but try...

Oh, and Hi to the PH's I saw pulling into Birchanger Services on the M11 with the 2 Tuscans, a Chimaera and a Griff at about 2 p.m.

I am thinking of getting a road angel, do you recommend it? Would you recommend it over a bel euro 550?

I haven't tried any other detector to be honest but would recommend the RoadAngel to anyone. I need the laser detector module of course

Howard - send the letter regardless

We need to educate these people that the general population are unhappy with their tactics, and not just when they are caught!

I think I will. Anyone know which 'Safety Partnership' this will have been?

A Road Angel probably won't have saved you in this example - you need a Jammer :-)

We have 3 cars and it's a bit expensive 'jammifying' all of them otherwise I'd have done it by now.

It was Lincolnshire that may have nabbed me looking at their website...

www.roadlincs.com/CONTENT/STAYINGALIVE/DEFAULT.ASP

and they have a survey on speed cameras under the 'safety camera' section. Not sure if this has been posted before but I am sure they would value our opinions.

Hmm, worked for me this morning but I did see the page not found reply yesterday. There are other issues with their website as well, for example and oddly, the page that should dhow a map of the location of their fixed cameras does not work and neither does the page showing a map of accident blackspots.

Copy it to the chief constable. It's important the police begin to realise the extent to which their credibility has been destroyed by the talvan.
