I've done a search but haven't found anything conclusive. Are bus lane cameras video or stills and can I tell if they are active before passing them? Are the rules the same as for speeding where the NIP has to be served within 14 days? If video, is there enough light to film the number plate if the number plate lights on the car have failed?

The reason I ask is that my daily commute home has recently been increased by 10-15 mins by the inside lane of a dual carriage-way being turned into a bus lane. I am now forced to wait behind everyone turning right at a busy junction while the straight-on lane is empty because to get into it, I have to duck into the bus-lane for 50m, right at the point where a camera has been installed.

Thanks in advance

And that's exactly WHY the camera has been installed there I suspect! - Streaky

I'm sure that's the case and it's not helping anyone as the straight on lane was never congested anyway.

It's just a way to increase congestion to try to force people onto buses that are dirty (both inside and in environmental terms ... believe it or not!) and don't go where you want them to go!

You're not wrong there! I work in central Aberdeen and live 15 miles to the west. There are NO buses between 5:35pm and 8pm and the journey takes twice the time it does in a car. That's from central Aberdeen. Most offices are outwith central Aberdeen and from there I couldn't get a bus atall. I don't have a real alternative even if I didn't want to use my car (which I do).

think yourself lucky, from where I live the bus takes 1hr, the car takes 20mins. The do come quite regular tho, which makes up for it a little.

Guess what?

They are usually PIPS technolgy cameras the same bloody units as specs, which are the same as trafficmaster, same as london ring of steel, same as Congestion scamers & ANPR's, it records your number plate & it sends the info back to somewhere. Infra red too so you can't see em flash, they work in the dark too.

Jap-car, you can see the effects of living on 'professor' David Begg's found door right there!
