See the very last sentence: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/3272379.stm
"But on Thursday, organisers moved to quell the fears, saying there was "no question" of it leaving the area."
As has been discussed before, they may not be able to, or even wish to, move it; but to come out and say that!
That's tantamount to saying, "O.K., we're bent over, come and get us."

And to give ammunition to that patronising arse hole, Rowling, "We believe that this year's success is down to a partnership approach involving the rally organisers, competitors and manufacturers."

Thats funny ?

Last year Rowling's mob boasted of having caught out 'over 2300 rally fans' So how come its only 1616 now. And this year there are only 700 or so unfortunates ? Is it perhaps because they could only make 1616 offences out of 2300 stick ? The American colleague who was driving my car was caught out by a deliberate trap set a few yards before a 30 limit - a 3rd of a mile OUTSIDE a built up area. He could not believe the Police antics which we apparently tolerate. But appart from sending me a ridculously pompous letter Gwent Police did not even contact him.

1 The over-commercialisation for private interests of the UK's former premier rally has lead to thousands of real fans deserting the rally.

2 Most fans, especially locals know what Gwent stoop to and they can only get away with this kind of underhandedness for so long.

3 The Rally orgainsers are rather spineless about the Gwent actions but they receive £50 million in public money via the WDA for 2003/2004/2005 in recagnition of the impact on the economy and the larger impact on Welsh manufacturing. Any threats to move the rally are the public face of behind the scene negotiations to get Rowlings lot to try to avoid killing the golden goose for both sides.

"I am proud to be part of an allegiance pioneering such an extended approach to speed reduction. The casualty reduction figures come despite a considerable increase in the flow of traffic to the South Wales area and I am confident that these benefits will be transferred to both Gwent and Dyfed Powys".

Arse. Load of.

cheers

Quote from checkyourspeed site: "Drivers need to accept that they are not necessarily the best judges of their own driving abilities."

How bloody patronising is that?

Even if the rally was moved by the world body it will make no differance to Wales. The tree huggers don't want it there, Brunstrom doesn't want the fans there driving in his thiefdom and most importantly the goverment will take the money from England and give it to them to make up the shortfall. After all they are giving all the welsh jobs to India and Thailand without a fight so whats £15 million.

4000 a month in North Wales and, as you say , not one of them involved in an accident at the time they were trapped.

This is a very important point. If accidents continue to happen at Gatso locations then they're not being caused by speeding (unless there genuinely are accidents caught on camera). So what are the causes of these, and what is being done about them? I think we should be told.
