He took a long time sobering up bearing in mind the accident was on Saturday night/Sunday morning and he wasn't arrested until this morning. Presumably he could be done for failing to report or similar?

I just hope he gets charged and heavy fine and ban, if not prison sentence. Leaving the scene of a fatal RTA is not something to be encouraged.

I'm sure D4v1d B3ckh4m will speak up for him, as I'm sure he will for any footballers arrested and tried for rape ... oh, of course, provided they're in the England team - Streaky

Yet another footballer to fall foul of the law. When are the authorities going to clear up this sorry excuse for a sport??

Disgusting behaviour in football just seems to go on and on.

Soccar is a gentleman's game played by hooligans. Rugby (Union) is a hooligan's game played by gentlemen.

The standards of the players on and off the field are reflected in the stands.

The players do not run around the field playing to the fans and draped in their team-mates every time they score. They just get on with the game. The celebrations at the end were less than once can see at a Premier league soccer match when a goal is scored.

85,000 fans in the stadium on Saturday; Fans from Australia and England standing side-by-side. Lots of alcohol consumed before and after the game (maybe during too).

Was there any serious violence? Was there any at all?

Do the payers report how well behaved the fans were? No!

The problem is, it's the "Small earthquake in China; not many killed" syndrome

Yes there is, but he's being torn apart and none of us know what happened.

Well if he wasn't at the scene of the accident why did it take him so long to surrender to the police?

This case does footballers no good at all. They have had an appalling press recently and this just adds to it.

No wonder I am not a footy fan!

He's being torn apart because:

a) He didn't stick around; and
b) He's a footballer
