Police m/cycles dazzling drivers
Discussion
Driving along a main road today, I saw two police motorcyclists approaching, riding side by side with one hugging the centre white line. The twin headlights on both bikes were switched to high beam, thus dazzling on-coming drivers.
I wonder what their reaction would have been if I had driven towards them with foglights or fullbeam headlights on.
I realise bikers need to be seen but this is surely dangerous.
Dipped beams suffice to say, " I am here"

A couple of years ago i bought a new Sports Motorcycle and was amazed the first time that i took it out in the dark. I was following other cars and my Headlights were lighting ther roof of their car.
For the next couple of days i was constantly getting flashed and when i took it back to the bike shop i was told they were adjusted that way for safety etc etc.
I asked them to lower the beam to a more acceptable level.
Edited because i said main beam instead of Headlight

As a Police Motorcyclist i can only say that it must have been a mistake.
Headlights will suffice...no need for Main beam at all.
Tonyrec,
Thanks for that. You take care on those bike things. Last time I fell off one I was travelling at a huge speed; perhaps 2 mph on a slushy petrol station forecourt.
Ah, the Sixties...Ah My Ariel 500 twin.
