Right you lot, instead of just coming on here moaning about speed cameras etc. here's another chance for you to actually try and do something about it.

Patrick has now added a viral e-mail facility to the petition web site, making it dead easy for you to tell all your friends, contacts, the buggers from the media etc about it.

For more info see www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=69610&f=98&h=0

If you've already sent in the petition and told your friends, thanks. If you haven't yet sent in the petition (and it's obvious from the numbers received that a lot of PHers haven't) then do it now.

I don't want to be a wet blanket, but on the principal that 'two wrongs do not a right make', can we be assured that this "viral e-mail facility" facility does not infringe the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations that come into effect on 11 December - intended to 'stop' unsolicited e-mails (commonly known as 'spam')? - Streaky

Ah... but your only going to send it to people you know and have addresses for, aren't you? This means it isn't spam!

Ah, but you are not sending the e-mail! The sender is safespeed.co.uk and the e-mail is not solicited by the recipient, therefore it is spam under the Regulation. puggit has the answer in www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=69610&f=98&h=0 - Streaky

Hmm, interesting point. Strictly speaking the e-mails aren't being sent BY www.saferroads.co.uk but by individuals THROUGH www.saferroads.co.uk

However, maybe best to play safe and originally send e-mail to yourself and then forward to all your contacts. Should definitely be no problem that way.
