On the Kent Scamera site it states that cameras will be used in areas with more than x number of deaths over a given period. Ok, so far so good. However they also have the Talivans in areas which, to quote their www:

kent scamera site said:
Although our enforcement activity is concentrated at sites where speed related crashes are known to occur, from time to time we will operate at the following sites where speeding and its consequences has generated concern among the local community

IMHO this shows they are more concerned, not with safety, but with ca$h revenues. What thinks you?
BTW their www is www.kentandmedwaysafetycameras.org.uk/locations.html

There's no question of legality - these bloodsuckers can work anywhere.

They have guidelines set by the governmnet which if followed enable them to reclaim the fines (called hypothecation).

my point was they openly state their guidelines on this particular stretch of road was the concerns of the community as opposed to a number of deaths caused by speeding. Does this mean that as this doesn't follow the guidelines that any fines go to the Treasury and not to the Scamera unit  ????

How many members of this "concerned community" do you suppose they subsequently caught speeding?

Out of interest, by which channels would a "concerned community" be able to ask a camera partnership for more cameras? And if they do indeed listen to the voices of concerned communities, isn't it about time they allowed the MOTORING COMMUNITY a say in the matter?

And even the guidelines allow for 15% of locations to have no accident history what so ever providing they fit in with their "overall safety strategy". IE Month end, poor weather, revenue down, lets all pile down to the nearest dual carriageway.
