Smiley Sid Stolen
Speed warning device taken by two mystery men
A new intelligent road sign that flashes up passing cars' speeds has been cut down by two men in a white van.
'Smiley Sid' is one of a new generation of signs that flashes up a vehicle's speed and a happy or sad smiley face to indicate whether it's above or below the limit.
One such sign in Eston, Cleveland was recently removed from the lamp post to which is was attached by two men who passed it in a white van. Local council officials are mystified as to why the men took it.
Signs such as these have proven more effective than speed cameras at slowing motorists down. One theory is that the men thought it was recording their particular vehicle speeding.
its amazing what you dring home from the pub, most of use get nothing, some of use get a lass and few of use get arrested and for the remainder get the signs to guide us home on out weary path

I reckon it was some of Brunstroms cronies. What would happen if they proved more effective in reducing speed than his beloved scameras!
I find it odd that the usual following statement "Local council officials are mystified as to why the men took it." always followi=s these lines when they know their poplicies are not working.
