Hi everyone , this is my first post so be gentle. Great forum from what I've seen.

Just wondered when does a scamera measures your speed to decide whether to take a pic? Is it before the white lines or after? ie. should you drive over all the lines within the limit to avoid a flash.

Thanks

Welcome Leo, It'll be raining in your heart if you speed over the white lines but outside them you'll feel like dancing mate

I thought that they didn't fire if your speed changed significantly in the detection area. For this reason once I am onto the white lines and it hasn't gone off I assume it is safe to accelerate. Worked ok so far.

Not as far as I know (which ain't far) it's doppler which uses a static reference, ie the road and lines. Nothing to do with rate of change of speed. there will be a trigger level (to allow for Brunstromlike zero tolerance level adjustments) when this is exceeded a timed second shot fires off to give you the photographic edivence

I was basing this on this page on the ukspeedtraps website. Not necessarily gold standard information, but fairly comprehensive site.

sounds a bit risky to me. Wait till you gone past the white lines to be on the safe side then put yer boot to the floor

I always thought the lines were just for evidence on the photo and the speed check is done before that. I've always done as gasman does and no problems so far but don't want to tempt fate.
