A good friend was the victim of an serious assualt (GBH with intent). They caught the individuals responsible (first rate policing) and they are now enjoying significant vacations at Her Majesty's pleasure.

Anyway, he is claiming compensation through criminal injuries. First offer was made and was insultingly low, ignoring his most significant injury (required facial reconstructive surgery). Rejected the offer and he informed them of what they had missed. They came back immediately with an improved offer based on the tariff per injury system.

Is he likely to be able to get any further with this or should he just accept the offer? Has anybody been able to gain anything in addition to the tariff system?

He also had various possessions stolen (phone, wallet, watch) and had his clothes ripped. Should he be able to claim for these, and if so, who from?

Thanks in advance

Thanks for that. Not DetailDoctor but I read his post and it sounds very similar, and all too familiar in this day and age.

CICA claims - there's nothing in it for me on this one, but if your friend wants to ring me up for a chat, then I'll happily talk him through what he can, and what he can't claim for.

Regards,

Richard
