Has anyone considered the possibility that fatalities on the roads are going up because the general driving standard is falling? My neighbour was a driving instructor after he retired from the police and he's packed it in because he believes the examiners are passing people he thinks are dangerous liabilities.

Speed doesn't kill - idiot drivers do. Almost every day on my commute I have to slow down to less than 30mph on the M62 to let the nugget sitting on my bumper at 85mph see the error of his/her ways. All three lanes are nose to tail at that time. Strangely enough, I've also found that if I leave an appropriate gap in front of me, most drivers behind me do the same........weird.
