I was pulled for speeding at the end of May this year, given a producer and not offered a fixed penalty as I was doing quite a bit above the limit (around 28mph higher). I produced my license within a couple of days at a police station.

I've since heard nothing - does this mean I'm clear and dry or can it take longer ? I thought that, generally, they had to issue a summons within six months and that's gone now...

A year a so ago I was stopped for 103mph on the Swindon by-pass. Had a very pleasant chat with Mr Plod. (Seriously - he was very complimentary about my driving and apologised for having to pull me over). He said if I'd not heard anything within six months I could breathe easy.

I'm one of the very few lucky ones.

I was stopped on the 30th June and had my court summons on around the middle of September. I believe they have 6 months from the offence to summons you. If your in doubt you can always check with the officer who stopped you.
