Newsflash from TV:
15 year old girl in parent's Mercedes crashed into a tree and killed her friend.
The CPS has just let her off without charge.
I can only assume the crash happened at below the posted limit.

Unbelievable.

The parents are responsible. THey should be charged with criminal negligence.

a 15 year-old knows right from wrong, they also know that a car is a lethal weapon and at 15 shouldnt be near the keys, let alone starting the car and driving it.i cant see why she hasnt been done for t.w.o.c and the death of her mate(she had never had a legal lesson ffs)as that is exactly what she has done.

pitty the cps set such a low price on a life.

Perhaps they realised they couldn't put her in jail and couldn't extract an enormous fine from her. I guess they prefer adults with bank accounts.

There's a white van at the end of my road that looks very much like it's been driven rapidly over a bumpy field then dumped, with the occupants legging it up an adjacent footpath. Told Plod about it last Tuesday. No sign of them yet. Still waiting... expect the trail's gone cold now, stolen goods fenced, fingerprints erased...

While not knowing the full facts, I would have thought the CPS didn't prosecute because it wouldn't have been "in the public interest". e.g. the chances of her reoffending are remote, and any prosecution would only mess her life up even further?

That's probably true. It does rankle, though, compared to how they come down like a ton of bricks on anyone exceeding the posted limit, using a mobile phone and various other petty things that are, in the opinions of those who Know Better than us, 'socially unacceptable. (I think Council Tax is socially unacceptable, but therte you go.)

I wonder how the parents of the girl that died feel?

You do the crime you should pay for it.
