I got pulled last night
Discussion
Was having a bit of a play
on a frosty roundabout at the end of a cul de sac on the industrial estate last night, finished my play and pulled back onto the proper road outside to go home.
A trafpol was stood in the middle of the road waving me to pull in .. "oops" I thought ... (!).
Well I was prepared for a bit of a talking-to, but it didnt happen. trafpol was courtesy personified.
Appraently I was pulled because he thought my exhaust might be blowing, when he saw the 4 inch tailpipe on the beemer he said "I guess it's meant to sound like that"! .. i gave a knowing nod and a laugh. I offered him my documents without prompting, and he just looked at the driving license and gave the car a quick once-over commenting how nice it looked for it's age .. brilliant.
I just wanted to post something before xmas to say that this trafpol was great
... the baseball hat wearing youth he pulled immediately after me maybe didn't get such a good reception, the first thing he asked was why he had his front fog lamps on!!! hahahahahaha

yeah and i got pulled the other day on my bike for having a small number plate - a whole 4.5 mm too small mind! (gave hime a surprise when the helmet came off and he found a suited middle aged professional). My mate is a beat copper and he has no time for taffic plod either. How many cars do you see without lights working, blowing smoke, indicators not working (by choice) - they don't seem to bother so much with them, but if you have "speed machine" you are a sinner! Nice to hear you found a good one, I wish there were more that is all, and the petty ones ruin it for me - I hate em.

To be honest, I don't think I've ever had a bad experience with a plod, on road related issues I've always found trafpol to be very courteous / polite.
i also have had almost nothing but good attitude from se and kent police though perhaps its xmas targets being met, but i have now been pulled 4 times in under 2 months and im starting to get a bit annoyed. its not the fact that im being pulled over as im paid by the hour so the time isnt a factor, but rather the rubberneckers that stare like im some child molester and the really, really, weak escuses given for doing so. "the reason ive pulled you over is because youre wearing a baseball cap" (the right way round i might add). or "youre driving a GTi" does this really fall under due cause to believe i should be given a tug? surely a pnc check from within the car when youre behind would tell you that, yes, it is mine and if its not reported lost or stolen, why bother? i appreciate the fact that if it was stolen, the police attention it seems to get would increase the chance of the miscreant being caught, but is it so much a numbers game? i should add i work as a courier so am often out very late when most of this happens, but surely thats not the only factor. are there pulling targets as we approach christmas? dont get me wrong, this isnt a pop at the officers on this board, and like i say, the attitude of the policemen i speak to is generally really good, but my cars not boy racered so is it so hard to believe that a 24 year old can afford a £500 car? also, i carry all my documents in the car as producers are a pain in the arse, which includes my V5. now, i had heard that this can be a little iffy for some grey reason, could anyone clarify what this is? surely a V62 gets any thief a V5 in a week anyway so whats the deal?
sorry about the length, got a bit carried away!
I got stopped yesterday late lunchtime in a 'drink/driving check'. They weren't stopping everyone, so it was random!
Anyway, the nice BiB waited whilst I turned off the engine (so I could hear him and he could hear me), took off my baseball cap (it stops the top of my head getting burned in the summer and frozen in the winter), pulled off my balaclava 'thingy' (bought in the US and indescribable except in American ... but great for keeping the chill off the back of my neck), removed Bluetooth earpiece from right ear (40% deaf in the left from a bomb explosion), and turned off the radio (on for traffic bulletins and turned up to full volume to compete with V8 exhaust).
BiB was grinning throughout.
"Have you had a drink recently, sir?"
"Yes, a tomato juice."
"Er, anything in that, sir?"
"Worcestershire sauce."
"Thank you, sir. Drive carefully. ... Nice car by the way!"
Cheers!
Streaky
PS - was surprised at the 70 to 80-year old lady that they had stopped in front of me. She was out of the car being quizzed by the other BiB. A drop too much of Mother's Ruin perhaps? - S

With the new procedures in place its very difficult, or should i say more difficult to get a V5 for a car whenever you havent got the Tax reminder or original V5.
Its not like the old days anymore.
Obviously if you leave the Docs in the car then a would be thief would only have to put them in an envelope, lick the stamp and 2 weeks later they have the new V5.
