Might be able to help here - as I work for W Yorks - go onto the West Yorks Police site and they post a week in advance where they will plot up. W Yorks don't use any black vehicles at all

Sadly it was N. Yorks...

their website includes this gem of nonsense

Excess and inappropriate speed contributes to over one third of all road casualties. It is crucial that we address this issue to improve road safety. Research has shown that reducing average by 1 MPH leads to a 5% reduction in collisions overall and in the vicinity of junctions can lead to a 17% reduction. North Yorkshire Road Policing Officers actively target speed offenders at locations and routes throughout the county that have a proven collision / speed record. Our speed enforcement is directed at maximum road casualty reduction.

Sadly the NIP arrived today.... arse ! !

38 in a 30 from Humberside Police.

well the 38 seems unlikely.. more like 35 I reckon, however no point in arguing on that one...

Can someone though please tell me the Signing regulations for speed traps, as this one was set up with the Black Van before the solitary Temporary Speed Trap sign, not after it.. accordingly, the first thing we saw was the Black van after it was too late, rather than a Speed Trap Sign..

..any mileage in persuing this angle..?

Cheers
Matt

Sadly, no. They completely disregard the guidelines and act "in the wild." Play the buggers at their own game and do like I intend - install a laser jammer.

Remember, if you get stopped with a Jammer (oh sorry, 'garage door opener') you have to prove that you had an honest reason to have it installed on the car.

That'll be the original Humberside van then.

It used to have no markings on it at all. You used to have to look out for a black van with the back window open. Due to complaints they painted POLICE down the side in small white letters (very useful).

When they joined the goverment's cash collection scheme they painted the back door orange.

The other newer vans are white. I've never seen them anywhere that isn't posted on the website.

the BiB who beat the rap a month or two successfully beat it due to the signage being illegal.

The speed limit signs themselves were illegal; the presence or otherwise of camera warning signs has no effect on the legal position (unless they were illegally incorporated into the speed limit signs as happened in the above case).

just don't sign the nip. Say you can't recall who was driving, you or your partner. They can't do squat without a photo that clearly shows. You will end up on the "hit list" though. eg, any ANPR vans and you will likely be stopped up the road. HOw do I know these things? not saying. Yet.

Why should children be on the road, they are for vehicles. Doesn't anyone think to teach them to cross when cars aren't coming any more?

What? If we do 1,000,000 mph then we could everyone, if we did 0mph we could killno-one. Therefore more speed = more deaths, what's the problem?

S'pose I'd better add some smilies for sarcasm...
