On the way to visiting family today I had two cars in front of me at a set of lights with young(ish) lads in each car who obviously knew each other and were shouting to each other from car to car. Both cars were being driven bordering on the erratic, but nothing too ridiculous. I decided to let them get on with it and hung back, not wanting to get involved in anything silly.

As we approached a Christian church I noticed an Indian family standing outside, keeping themselves to themselves and talking amongst one another. The next thing I see is an open water bottle launched from one of the cars, obviously aimed at the family. To be fair to them, they hardly reacted even though they'd all been hit by the water (or, what I hope was only water...).

I followed both cars for another 1/2 mile and was able to get the registration plates of both. I then returned to the church to speak to the family (telling them I witnessed what had happened) and to tell them that I had both reg plates. They were very appreciative, but did not wish to take any action and declined to take the reg plate details from me.

Utter mindless yobbism. Scally little chavs thinking they can do whatever they want without repercussion. I WISH the family had taken the details, and taken it up with the police, but they're probably correct not to even bother - would anything be done?

I still have the reg plates and would love to report them, but is it worth it? I can't see the police even bothering to act if the victim hasn't come forward?

You could report them for bad driving and throwing things out of the window, the police won't be able to do much though.

I would report it even if I didn't think there was much the police would do. At least you'll have done as much as you can. It's then in the hands of the authorities.

I saw one of those American vid programs the other night, where a car full of 'promising young men' was out having some 'harmless, wholesome fun' by way of throwing water bottles at people and shouting abuse.

One person they hit with a water bottle ran after the car, until it was caught in traffic 50 yards further on, and then, after receiving a barrage of abuse and threats, he proceeded to wail the tar out of one of the gobby oiks inside. Classic!

Just reported it to the police who were of the opinion it may have been a possible hate crime. As such they treat it slightly more seriously and have told me they'll get back to me if they take any further action.

You can only hope that they stop the car another day, knowing the state that most chavmobiles are in, they'll find something to fine them for pretty quickly.

Seen that several times before, but the odd thing is the kid looks like he had already fallen out of the car when he smashed into the other one. confused

He'd have looked a bit silly laying in the road in front of the people he'd just abused, even without smashing all his teeth out on that parked car. Dick. hehe

Looks to me as if he tryed to lean out and hit that lad on the BMX. It seems the door hit the BMX (you can hear the ping at the Beginning). The guy then falls out too far and cant pull himself back intime, resulting in him getting a face full of cadillac.

Just a thought, and a sad one at that, but what would getting the police involved actually have achieved. At best they would plead guilty of being idiots and get a caution...

Just a possibility, but the driver may be illegal, drunk, uninsured, smoking dope, whatever, and getting a 'pull' may expose him to the full fury of the greatest legal machine in the history of the planet: The British judicial system.

Where he'll probably get a caution.... hehe

Ned?

My "friends" went round in their Evo quite often a few months back finding chavs on street corners and throwing smoke bombs at them. This resulted in them getting chased by chavs on many ocassions, but 100bhp fiesta v 340bhp of evo...well you can guess the result

This attack on an innocent family though seems harsh.

You did the right thing. I can't remember the exact definition, perhaps Bib on here will correct me, but if it is reported as a being racially motivated by the victim or a witness then Bib are obliged to follow certain procedures.

Also, as someone else has stated on this thread a follow up can often reveal other irregularities like no insurance/ drivers license etc. What you witnessed may have been just one point of a whole days activities for the yobs.
