Oxon call for MORE scameras
Discussion

BBC South's regional news bulletin today carried an item about a campaign being run by the landlord of a pub in Oxfordshire.
After 9 fatalities in 12 months, they are calling for a 40 limit and speed cameras. Using today's news that the local constabulary - Thames Valley - have netted £4.2M in fines, they pointed out that this is one accident blackspot not sporting any cameras.
What they did not do was discuss the cause of any of the fatalities. A link from the article to two items about an RTC in September that resulted in 3 fatalities mentions only a head on collision between the family's Toyota Carina and a Subaru Imprezza.
So, it looks as though the population of Oxfordshire have gratefully accepted the random 50 limits on previously NSLd rural roads, they've welcomed the £4M tax on local motorists and have bought the "Speed Kills" mantra hook, line and sinker.
With so many fatalities, this is obviously a dangerous road, but where are the calls for engineering solutions or an investigation into the real causes of the collisions? Nowhere to be seen - or if they are, these calls are not interesting enough to warrant media attention.

Oxford - bastion of logic and intelligence when it comes to roads and transport...
NOT!
"We don't want our lovely old buildings damaged by nasty car exhausts" Solution: remove all parking (except for council employees, of course!) and run about a million empty busses all day long around the city, oddly enough chucking out far more pollution and causing more damage than cars ever would have managed.
Bunch of feckwits

F**king w*nkers, thing is it'll be themselves that get nabbed, they deserve what they get
This happened in my village, the leader of the parish council kept complaining of cars speeding, so the BIB set up a mobile camera. Who was nicked? yep the leader of the parish council

It's incredible isn't it, how time and time again, there are people who are led, lemming-like into "signing up" for a solution, when the real reason is to raise revenue and the "solution" they are sold will not work. Bl00dy ignorant peasants basically.
Of course, the accidents are probably a statistical blip and the camera's placement will coincide with a "fall" in accidents to much trumpeting by the camera supporters and agreement by the ignorant lemmings. Hell I'm annoyed!

Thing is I detest people hooning through my village but can't for the life of me understand why these ignorami think scameras are going to solve their problem THEY ARE THE PROBLEM!! the kids don't drive through it cos there are no girlies to admire their spotlights, heavy transport and salesmen don't because there is f**k all business in the place and it has a frigging bypass anyway. So who's left?
I've lost count of the times I've blatted past a car (from the village) holding up a 5 car 45mph convoy only to have the twat embedded in my boot when I slow for the 30 zone, or been stuck in said convoy that then hurtles through the village at the same 45mph. Arseholes the lot of em
