Ok so if you find a parked talivan doing his dilligent duty to get people doing 33 in a 30 etc etc therefore saving billions of lives a second as we all know...

What if a cyclist were to (purposefully) accidently cycle into the van and the cyclist were to fall into all the laser stuff and civvie / copper and damage it (oh dear what a pity never mind)(

Could the cyclist then sue the scameraship as they were parked on a designated cycle lane? and as the cyclist does not have a numberplate therefore the police would be unable to prosecute...?

Just wondering because if i see one parked on a cycle lane again I might be tempted to bring the ol' mountain bike out. Wonder how a LTI20/20 speedscope and associated paraphinalia would cope with a 16stone reasonable built cyclist + cycle would stand up....

But everyone knows the vans have been given a permit to park wherever they feel like, by president blair.

You'll be taken away in the back of said van and abused in a manner that befits the crime of standing up for the normal man's voice.

Also, the van/bike crash will become yet another fudged statistic to beat the humble motorist with.

I would suggest calling the Police + Council + MP + Papers (probably the papers first)

Well if you do decide to crash into a van, could you please let me know... I wouldn't mind coming along to watch

(obviously to see the van get damaged... not the fact that you might get hurt )

Surely if they are parked in a cycle lane then they are illegaly parked. I would stop and go and have a chat with them. Also phone the local station and file a complaint that you couldn't get past in you electric wheelchair or similar.

if they are parked on a cycle way, do cycle up and try to cycle past but as bikes tend to 'wobble' and you may crash into them, Im sure you will have hurt yourself and scared you witless, it will be them paying you not

And lets not forget that I will have years and years of psychological trauma to deal with and whiplash injuries and I will not be able to cycle again so my taxi fares everywhere will amount to a large amount of compensation.

Maybe there is a use for claims direct after all....

Not that I like them, but couldn't Critical Mass and Reclaim the Streets come into play here? A few emails telling them about these evil talivans blocking their cherished cycle lanes and you'd have thousands of two wheeled soap dodgers descend on the poor b*stard! Would be amusing to watch if nothing else, especially is they all cycled towards him over 30mph...

Either that or arrange for a flash mob armed with laser pointers to descend on the scene. Or both

RTS and Critcal mass are very supportive of the congestion charge. Accident rates for cyclists are way down since the intro of the CC.

If i see one parked like that, ill have my SLR out of the boot like a shot and take as many pics as possible - preferrably with a cycle lane sign in the foreground of the shot. Ill then scan the shot(s) at 300dpi and send them to all the national papers.

A fairly simple tactic would be to wait in the cycle lane on the bike, which may well block the camera, until the restriction is moved from the cycle lane. Can't be anything illegal in that at all.

I know that, but I doubt they'd take too kindly to a van stopped slap bang in "their" lane? I was just a casual thought really.
