What is with those speed cameras in the road works between juct 12 and 14 on the M25?? They have all got those “not in use” hoods on them. I think there are three cameras for each direction, all with hoods on. If speed cameras truly are meant to be used as a deterrent to stop speeding, why put them up and then put hoods over them??? Can anyone explain?

P.S. Of course I am happy to see the hoods on the cameras, but just don’t understand why they would be put on in the first place…

That's been bugging me for a while about some on the A1.

Next time you're there check to see if there are the white lines on the road. The A1 cams don't have any, so I'm guessing that's it.

Sure they haven't got little holes cut out on the other side where the lens and flasher are? Who me cynical?

Edited to add: apologies for using your name in vain, Flasher (glad to see you're almost back to feeling yourself again)

The M25 ones do have white lines painted and look all ready for action when they whip off the covers ...

... I understand that the overhead gantries along that section are also completely devoid of cameras (a mate went through there the other day and his Valentine didn't make a peep) but I'm not taking chances.

I think you'll find the covers come off soon...
