A pal of mine has recently had his previously clean license endorsed with 3 points and is under the impression that this makes him ineligible to train as an HGV instructor as intended (he's been an HGV driver for 10 years). Can anyone confirm this or otherwise?

Cheers!

Put the nose in the Books and cannot come up with anything that states points on a Licence debars a person from acting as an HGV Instructor. Not even mentioned in the Act for motor car DI's.

Looking at some of the sites that offer Courses to achieve the rank of Instructor in this field only states that the "trainee' should be in possession of a valid Licence.

Unless somebody know different?

Phoned up the DSA - he has to declare em, but its only when you get to the 6 points mark that they'd start, in their words "to have to look closely at them".

So he should be fine mate
