I was traveling along i think its the lime house link (the tunel by Excel in the docklands, london) its a duel carrage way but with a 30mph limit! unfortunatley i got double flashed by a camra not sure what type. But i was traveling about 65mph!

What can i expect for this kind of lapse of concentration? can i get out of it (i get sacked if i lose my licence) and was it a gasto?

Sorry to hear about this.

You can argue exceptional hardship to keep your license, but you can only do it once.

I'm afraid you'll have to expect a fat bill and a few points, not to mention insurance troubles.

Best advice: dress smart to go to court, admit it, explain the circumstances truthfully and be repentant.

Edited to add: unless I'm much mistaken it was one of those new digital cameras, that are supposedly online all the time.

If it took a picture from behind the car you can try to get off by claiming you can't remember who was diving (but only if there's more than one person insured on the car).

Bear in mind that if you do and it doesn't work, the fine & points will be larger.

Sorry but I've recently learnt that they're SPECS average speed cameras. First time i drove along it a few weeks ago I couldn't understand why everyone was sticking rigidly to 30mph. Seems a ridiculously low speed limit to me but that's the nanny state we live in. With luck you're looking at 6 points

Bit of a relief at least its not a ban though. But court! Do digital camaras use film or will there be a nice letter in the post any dat now? my licence is clean at moment so do you think that i will get away without a ban

I don't think you'll face a ban for the first offence, but as I said, even if they propose it all you need is a letter from your employer stating that you'll loose your job if you're banned.

Can't be SPECS; they don't flash.

Might be worth trying the not signing route. I don't think you can get banned for S172 so at worst this may be a damage limitation option, at best you might get off altogether.

The cameras in the Limehouse link do both average speed (a la specs) and speed at 2 points (a la gatso) if my memory serves me correcly.

the first gatso style spot is about 100m into the tunnel.

I drove down through this section for the first time over xmas. Some twat had turned all the 30mph signs around so that I didn't realise the limit had dropped.

Thankfully I was only doing abpout 38mph and I got a single flash, no NIP in the post.

Anyway, it might be worth going back and seeing if the signs are still in the same position, I believe without proper signage, you can claim that the limit was still 40mph.

However, you're still doing 65 in a 40, not good.

Best of luck.

65 in a 30, thats double the speed limit, a ban is very likely IMHO

If you fight it, you could get away with less, but you risk getting more if you fail.

I reckon with a grovelling apporach, and an I'll lose my job if I get banned, it will be the 6 points and fine.

Seriously though... 65 in a 30 !! that really isn't cricket..

ahh but was it not in the lymehouse tunnel? 30 limit but it looks far faster. IIRC did they not reduce it because some tit joyriding crashed and died?
