About speed cameras

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/talking_point/3423425.stm

Needless to say, they haven't published my comment. Perhaps someone else will have more luck.

Cameras in every car, watching the driver and passengers, is the only safe approach. Anything less is effectively actively condoning inattentive and dangerous driving and whatever comes with that.

What an unimaginative gimp! Every kid knows that implanted bio-chips, that control your behaviour, are the way to go.

No he is just not aware of how soon after installation the camera would meet a sledgehammer. People like this design anti theft devices that take 2 seconds of extreem violence to disable. Thats because they think everyone will obey the rules even if they are silly. I just never occurs to them not to.

As always on the Beeb: Its largely the clueless opinions of a group unqualified to comment. I posted asking how many of the opinions were from people who'd passed an Advanced Driving Test...

Its not the only way to be a good driver - but there is a string correlation between passing it and not having accidents.

Most of the posters seem to be from that holier-than-thou group of car hating morons who simply want to punish motorists out of their cars. There didn't seem to be one intelligent comment in favour of extremely low and highly enforced speed limits...

There were also, clearly, a few PHers who'd posted something. Stood out a mile...

Has he though?

Is he not saying that far more accidents are caused by drivers falling asleep, reading the paper, looking at a map, talking on their phone, being distracted by their passengers who could be drunk friends larking about, children fighting, screaming, throwing up etc?

I may be wrong but he could be responding with sarcasm?

Yes, yes he has... if it's a sarcastic post then the total lack of emotive language in it doesn't give that impression!

A camera in every car, please - that's not going to do jack schitt to improve driving - watching people doesn't educate them... educating people does though!

Thats the way I see it too. He seems too intelligent to believe this could ever work, which it couldn't
