I think I got zapped this afternoon on the Nottingham Ring Road, going south, just emerging from the underpass at the ring road/A52 roundabout. Talivan parked at a angle on the grass verge just past the end of the slip road between the service road to the QMC and the ring road. Checked the speedo as soon as I saw it, (partially hidden by two vehicles in the inside lane) 48mph, posted limit 40mph. Obviously slowed down immediately, be interesting to see what appears on the summons, as I was actually beginning to accellerate (going downhill)before I saw the van, ie, 48 is the fastest that I could be accused of.
Apparently, it is a popular spot to set up the van, along with parking just after the rail bridge so that you get clocked coming over the brow, about 50 yards shy of the NSL.
Just for the information of anybody negotiating the Nottm Ring Road, of course. As Safety is allegedly the main point of these things, pointing these positions out will, of course, assist the talivanists, in that now all PH'ers know where they are likely to be, and so will, of course slow down, or travel at the posted limit, so negating the need for them to be there.
As this is my first suspected ticket since december 1978 (85 on the M1, 10.40 at night, 3 motorbikes, 2 tickets issued before next vehicle passed, on the OTHER carriageway, Trafpol without lights), I suppose I've had an easy ride, so to speak.
However, to continue, those that know the bank where the Talivan was sited will no doubt think, How dangerous was it to passing traffic for the talivan to get there in the first place?
