M! southbound wednesday

Well leaving a customer in doncaster I proceeded on the M1 s/bound to London.
Not far into the journey it was clear, no gritting had taken place, no snow ploughs, NO police.
All lanes were like ice rinks with traffic moving at 5mph barely able to keep control. Apart from many HGV drivers who stormed down the outside lane at 50MPH- I always wondered why so many of them die on the roads- now I know!! Not to mention the odd moron who 'uses his skills' to hit the crash barriers!
Some poor old lady, broken down in the middle lane of a gradient- no hope of her getting help and a huge risk of death one would imagine.
Oh an the wonderfully informative signs saying snow ahead 40MPH and Road clear when it was almost shut!
The point of all this is- what a stark contrast to those nice sunny days on a motorway free of traffic where safety partnerships and police operate to catch the'dangerous ones'
Of course providing services that may save lifes are not the issue, its providing services that raise revenue.
Well 11 hours later im in london- think I will join captain Gatso! the safety message is a nonsense

Only speed causes accidents, you know that - ice has no effect at all.
Here's a sinister thought - what's this cold snap going to do to the KSI figures? How many accidents happened on the ice these last two days? None of them will have been caused by "speeding" in the enforcement sense of the word, as it simply hasn't been possible to get anywhere near posted limits, let alone break them. As sure as night follows day the SCPs will be using the stats to "prove" how dangerous the roads are and using that to justify more cameras. Then, when the KSI figures decrease next year if/when there isn't a similar cold snap, they'll be falling over themselves to point out how their fantastic cameras have "saved n lives". You can see it happening a mile off....

Life in the UK:
1. Wrong kind of leaves on roadway and rail (Both cause delays and accidents. That why they hide the scam behind the tree then?
2. Wrong kind of rain. Reservoirs dry, hosepipe bans,followed by autumn downpours and floods on the road which cause accidents (then they then place scam to make it "safer!" "We'll just hide the talivan behind the hedge or find the most dangerous and illegal place to park it. as it's a dirty white van, they'll just think it another 'numpty white van driver!'"
3. Wrong kind of snow. Two inches stick to the ground. It causes accidents which we can fix by placing scam there.
4. Wrong kind of temperature. It made the snow freeze and the roads go icy. Accidents galore! No problem - we've made loads of dosh from fines already and we've enough for a few more cameras. There! Nice New Gatso! That'll fix it!
5. Wrong kind of grit! Well, the wrong kind of grit for the wrong kind of snow for the wrong kind of freeze!
6. Wrong kind of road safety measures for serious road safety.
7. Right kind of road safety measures for making serious amounts of money!
8. Right kind of spin doctoring for whitewashing all kinds of scandal, including all dodgy official statistics, tax rises,and explaining the GBH caused to the wallets and bank accounts of all UK citizens.
