I was stopped yesterday by the police, 2 marked cars, one a traffic, were sitting in Greenock and as I approached two plod waved me in behind the traffic car! Nice blokes! blabbed away for 5 minutes or so about this and that! (I had asked about the traffic car, ie WTF is that?!?!?!) Anyway, one plod came to my window while the other walked around teh car! he eventually stopped at the Tax Disc and started examining it!! The plod at my window asked me about the disc, when I bought it, yada yada ya!
He said the Number Plate Recognition System had flagged it as being without tax! This is 22 days after I bought the disc!

Can anyone explain where this recognition system is usually placed! I didn't see nay plod cars, vans or unusual boxes anywhere!
And why after 22 days has the DVLA's comuter not been updated!
I'm not ranting at plod, doing there job and all that, and it was traffic plod doing it, but the DVLA, surely when you buy a disc at the PO it is entered into the computer within a couple of days!! It's stupid!!!

ANPR - Automatic number plate recognition. Can either be fixed or in a Police vehicle. Reads a number plate and automatically checks it against the Police National Computer for markers (if your car is flagged up for one thing or another.)

The thought processes at the DVLA are a bit difficult to get a handle on. For example if as is the case most of the driving licence forms they receive have to be returned at least once because they are incorrectly completed, in the real world they would go bust and be bought up for 20p by someone who would revamp the form and make a success of it. In the twighlight world of the DVLA, however, they produce a leaflet telling everyone how bad they are at completing the form. It is therefore no suprise that they are now guilty of wasting police time. They should of course be brought to book about this and many of their other crimes, but of course this is not going to happenm because the priority is speeding and tax dodgers.

A few people have sued the DVLA for various reasons.

A few years ago they lost my Reg Docs which cost me a private plate. I was not amused.

I think the DVLA is staffed by a team specially trained in incompetence.

Have to agree the DVLA are a bunch of F*uckwits! I have bought two cars over the last few months! A G reg astra (which I'm now selling) and a L reg Orion. The previous owner of the Astra sent away the V5 teh day I bought the car, I had decided to sell it and put the ad in the paper before I got them back! 9 weeks for a reg document to arrive!! The reg doc for the Orion came back in 2 weeks

I recently exchanged my licence from my Lost Provisional to a Full! I sent the document away in Jan with my test pass certificate stating on the Application that I had lost my Provisional. A week later I got a letter asking for my provisional! After many letters and phone calls I finally got my licence about 2 weeks ago!!!

The reason is i think its harder for them to train the sheep to use to computers hence the delay BAAAA
