a) Roll over, pay £60 and receive 3 points (if offered)

b) Get your other half to fill out the NIP, don't sign it, return to sender

c) Blame your uncle Bob in Bulgaria Note: might be on shaky legal ground

d) The David Beckham defence - 'I was speeding to escape the press'

Wait and see. Whether or not you land in any trouble will be down to whether or not the garage have records as to who was loaned which courtesy car on what day.

If they do they'll name you (they'll have to) and you'll have to take the points. If they have no records (likely) you'll almost certainly never hear a thing..although they may get in trouble for not keeping adequate records...

Surely they will fill in the NIP, you can then plead not guilty & ask for photographic evidence.
This will then be inconclusive & you will get off with it

All garages are now required to log times and dates of courtesy car issue and return. You should have signed a document and been given a copy. If there is no official log with agreed times then deny all knowledge because all that will happen is the garage will get a slap on the wrist. You should keep all documents from the garage for 14 days just in case.

OK here's clutching at straws.
The NIP has now arrived, I've read the accompanying information. (Also published on the SafeSpeed website)
Site selection is described:
The requirement for mobile units is:
For mobile sites, at least 4 PICs over 3 years, including at least 2 KSIs as a result of speed-related road collisions.
At least 20% of drivers exceeding the speed limit.
85th percentile speed at or above Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) guidelines for proceedings, (currently the speed limit, plus 10% plus 2mph).
However as the road has recently been subject to a new layout and also new speed restrictions.

A dual cariageway that was previously subject to a 60mph limit, has been restricted to one lane, traffic lights added and the limit dropped to 50mph. Is it actually the "same" road on which all the statistics have been collated on?

Straw-clutching indeed! They are just guidelines and are routinely ignored by the scameraships.

Was it a civilian Talivan operator? The ABD are looking for a guinea-pig for a defence they have lined up...

I have perfected the use of two signatures.

I have my usual one which is for everyday signing of cheques etc and a phoney one that I use for signing courtesy cars, work's vans etc.

If I get collered, that's not my signature, must have been someone else pretending to be me.

Not much good in this instance:
I've had an account with the garage in question for 8 years. They delivered the courtesy car to me at home.
The form I signed has the number of my drivers licence!!

I will be writing to the Scamera Partnership, requesting:
1. Photographic evidence.
2. Details of the police officer comencing the procedings.
3. Proof of the sites legality (ie KSI & PIA statistics.)

Can anyone recomend any other questions I should ask?

Just don't sign the NIP or get your wife or solicitor to fill it in and send it back recorded deliv.
That way - no points and no fine.
