Saw on A48 on Monday a white van marked DVLA road tax with two cameras inside. What are they for ?

Thanks.

Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) out to catch tax dodgers. A good thing in my opinion.

Seen them around in Yorkshire a few times recently. They are probably doing a good job but with the new requirement for "continual taxation" I don't know how much extra difference they will make. According to the TV ads, if you haven't taxed your car, you get an automatic fine. It would probably be cheaper to just visit teh locations of cars declared SORN to check their whereabouts.
