Record Speeding Fine

Finn hit with £115,000 speeding ticket

Speeding in Finland can be an expensive business. With fines geared to earnings it gives scope for some very large penalities to be imposed.

In 2002 Nokia President Pekka Ala-Pietila was hit with a fine of £23,000 for running a red light and before that another Finnish millionare was fined £50,000 for speeding.

Now, Jussi Salonoja, a 27 year old millionaire (in the sausage business... mmm... time for lunch yet) has been caught doing 50mph in a 25mph zone. He's been fined £115,000!

Salonoja will appear in court soon to contest it!

Socialism run amok. The only people who should have access to your income are the tax people. Period.

Perhaps tourist brochures for Finland, Wales & Lancs should carry warning:

"Tourism here is dangerously bad for your wealth!"

Er..! Did I not read that Blunkett was considering this same option in press a couple of weeks ago?!

people forget the fact that millonaires typically work real hard with incurring many sacrifices to get where they are, not fair to take advantage of their hard labor, should the law be equal to all no matter the wealth
