When I was allegedly caught speeding, I was advised by a friend who was a Police Officer to say that I wanted the case to go to court, as over 75% of motorists who opt for this are not taken to court, it would overload the court system, and it worked for me, they sent me a letter stating that there would be no further action taken when I did this.

They just want you to hand over £60 and have 3 points added to your licence with no fuss.

So my advice to anyone who receives a NIP’s Notice of Intended Prosecution is to ask for the case to be heard in court, it took me a few phone calls and a trip to my local nick to view the picture of the back of my car which was rather blurred, you may have the same result as me.

Also if everyone who received a NIP’s asked for their case to go to court the system in my opinion would grind to a halt.

When you see a sign saying [Police Camera] it is actually saying [Police Fundraising Camera], Please Give Generously

Good Luck
I am not trying to incite anyone to commit a criminal offence by posting this on this web page it is just my experience which I am relaying.

Driving down to Oxford yesterday on the M42 or was it M40? anyway there was a sign saying that 10,220 odd people had so far been caught by the revenue cameras. I was doing just under 50 and a bloke was caught by the scamera flasing and he can't have been doing much more than 55. Must have seen 3 people be flashed in a 5 minute period.

What a criminal, 55 in a 50 where there is no reason for a scamera

Saw said sign myself today, and was mentally going through the revenue that lot has raised

Went down that part of M42 last weekend - not only littered with Gatso's, but Talivans on the bridges too .

Mind you, not all the Gatso's were on!

They're not doing a very good job of slowing people down then, are they?

M42 roadworks - Used to do that route two or three times a week... anyone that gets caught there deserves to get caught!

They deserve to get caught in the fact that the amount of visible cameras etc are there, but on a Sunday where there are no roadworks it is a silly speed, plus the car in front of me that got flashed was barely doing 55, it just seems a bit harsh, but I understand what you are saying.

I said "see you in Court"... that was 26th August. Out of time on the speeding 30th April, and hopefully on the S172.
Like you say just wanted the £60. But what would that have done the safety figures for last year? Yep would have been lower if I paid up! Its my fault for not paying the £60 that more people have died on the roads

Mrs Fish

You are talking about M42 2 miles south of NEC/Airport Jn 6 to jn with M40

Figure as you say is 10227. Week 4/04 it was 822*, ie 2000 in ~ one month.

As I posted then in a reminder to everyone at a true 50 (calibrated speedo) people are being flashed at about 57/58. Definitely below 60.

Have yet to travel through this section without seeing at least one person get flashed from the Gatso's.

Record was six on early hours of Christmas morning.

I travelled that section at 04:45 last Friday morning. Saw two people get flashed coming the other way. There was little traffic about and anyone "working" on that section of roadworks had clearly buggered off for a cuppa.

Had my cruise set to 50 because I've too many points at the moment anyway.

People do deserve to get caught on that stretch if they speed, but it was not dangerous. The gov.t must be laughing all the way to the coffers. Motorist as a cash-cow. Ker-ching. Makes me

i went through a hidden laser trap in a 30 today. It looked like a car facing into traffic on the verge with a guy staring into his boot wearing yellow jacket. must have something setup in the boot facing out through the front window into traffic. I nearly went back and stood in front of him but had to be somewhere. Oh boy am i taking this one all the way! I have only ever been successfuly prosecuted when the police themselves have caught me i dont intend to let this record slip.

I must also add that those people manning those cameras are parisites of the worst kind. If the government legalised phedophilia (for aguments sake) and handed out jobs to sexualy abuse children would it be ok and morally right to take such a job? i dont think so

Travel up and down the M42 nearly every day between junc 3a and 6, always with the cruise control set to 50 and have been flashed three times . Have never set of one of those signs that tell you to slow down though.

So there are now 2 toll roads that bypass Birmingham, both optional but one conc=siderably cheaper than the other.
