Sensible advice from Cambs Police!
Discussion
Just seen a report on Look East saying that accidents in Cambridgeshire are on the increase. The cause?
People not paying enough attention whilst behind the wheel. Not a single mention of speed or "speed cameras will help", the advice from the police officer was "keep your distance and stay alert". A couple who lost her daughter in an accident (my condolences to you, if you're reading) when she pulled out of a junction in front of somebody didn't blame the other driver at all, they just said "we wish she'd looked more carefully".
Good advice from the police and the media, let's hope this can continue.

Steady, this is the same force who advocate declaring a MURDER scene, at a road accident. If they found it was caused by Drugs or Drink driver, are they going to bring a charge of Murder???, which would be the ultimate deterant for everyone.NO--I dont think so, we had the case a few days ago of the asylam seaker, no documents killed a little boy, got 9 months and then had it reduced by 2 months, for THE Document element , NOT the Killing .Did this focus OUR attention on driving ??, NO-- just confirms everything we ALL know . The Judiciary are in an out of controlled world of their own, completly out of touch. The police have lost all credability, and I used to have such respect for them.
Very sadly a close friend of my daughter had her eldest child, an 18 year old daughter, killed at 00-30 hours on Christmas morning by a drunk driver who was, allegedly, driving at 60 to 65 mph along St.Neots High Street (that's in Cambridgeshire). He crossed at least one set of lights on red and then hit the young lady and her boyfriend who were crossing at a pedestrian crossing with traffic lights on red. Apparently the driver of the 3-Series BMW, a 21 year old, got out and said "Oh, did I do that?"
He is to be charged with Causing Death by Dangerous Driving plus Drunk Driving and the case has been sent to Crown Court.
Now, will this be part of the statistics as excess or inappropriate use of speed (he was well over the 30 limit), or be listed as another cause.
It's very sad and it is also the case that there is no offence of Causing death by Drunken Driving. I wonder how long the driver will go inside for

Thanks for the kind thoughts, guys.
However, a lot of good more speed cameras and less manned patrols are going to do to prevent this sort of apalling tragedy.
I've just had the local police force call me at work to ask me to donate to their road sfety diary. I have contributed in the past, but I was feeling a bit grumpy so I told the caller that I was not prepared to support the police in anyway whilst the Chief Constables supported the gov'ts stealth tax with their useless road-side-camera mugging-machines and that he should ask the Scamera Partnership for a large donation! He said that he would pass on my sentiments to those in authority. He may well not, but it made me feel better!

Rodney, it was on their TV news, not on the website.
Stupid me. I did not know Look East was the local News, but then I dont live in the East.
Still I would have thought they would have had something on their website?
