I thought I would just share with everyone what has happened today....

Someone in my street has been waging an ongoing war against me and my family for a year now and unfortunately the police have been relatively powerless to do anything about it. Its mainly been sharp screws placed under my and my wifes car in an attempt to puncture the tyres.

Just before Christmas my wifes car was vandalised and I was advised to fit CCTV to try and catch who it is. We have had a fairly good inclination who it is, but like I said, the Police are relatively powerless to do much.

Anyway, my car was vandalised today! Multiple scratches across all panels on one side - not good.

And the good bit - Yep, all on CCTV. Its exactly who we thought it was and the Police are loving this.

FANTASTIC - GOT YOU.....

hehe

I just thought I would share that with you all. I want to run down the street shouting, but clearly thats not a good idea. Police coming on Saturday to review the evidence and we will nail the cock.

Annoyed its take over 12 months and several hundred pounds worth of investment by me (oh and two vandalised cars), but boy I am going to enjoy this...... and its not kids. Its someone unexpected by our neighbours....

Carry on

30 hour community service and a £100 fine, then they'll be back at it. Welcome to the UK.

Could you take them to court to claim back the costs of the CCTV etc? Is there a legal precendent for this? Its not like a homeowner sueing a buglar after they get robbed, presumably you bought the cctv specifically to combat this wker?

ooh good! Keep us informed!

Though I guess you have to be careful in case he/she is a PHer and views this as affecting his subsequent court case...

Wont even get that far....CPS refuse to prosecute due to lack of evidence.....(even if you have their face on CCTV)

So why do they dislike you?

I can't see the police doing anything useful

As above.

Don't count your chickens.

You'll probably end up going to prison for filming him in breach of his human right to fvck up your car.

And that if they have previous too. Sad but very true.

You can't just go videoing the public at large, at least not without warning them. I assume the car was parked on your property at the time of the videoed damage? If not, then you have no chance, and plod will tell you that straight away, to save even having to give you a crime number.

I could have made all that up. hehe

But anyway, I guess the video could work its way onto Youtube, and a link could be printed out and posted through every door in the street, advising them of who the yob is in the street.

Any ideas why you have been victimised?

Very few domestic or even commercial CCTV set ups are of good enough resolution to give a 100%,court admissable identification. Even our ones are work are only any good to recognise people that you know or expect to be in them, there's no way you could look at the footage then walk down a street and pick someone out who you'd never seen before which alas is the level of identification that a court will want. I wouldn't be at all suprised if it get canned.

A bit like a uniformed orgy, of sorts? What will the wife say to this?

On another note, I genuinely wish you well (with sorting out the scum, not with the orgy or explaining it to the wife). Hopefully justice will prevail.

No, but they are good enough quality to identify the perpetrator and not feel concerned that you may have the wrong man when you are filling him in! wink

Much respect for you guys and all, but im just being realistic. Wrong angle, face not clear enough, cctv not admissable as evidence due to a technicality etc etc. Its not the officers themselves that will do nothing, they will do what they can but the police as a whole will get in its own way.
