Hey all,

Thought that I'd share this with you all. I was on my way to Ski Patrol yesterday evening, 20 minutes late as usual.

I was bombing along at 120 kph (limit is 100), and crest a small rise, who do I see coming the other way, but RCMP... d'oh. He flicks on the lights and turns around, passing the van of unseatbelted children (no, they weren't driving) doing the same speed as me, and pulls me over (fair enough).

Long story short, I get let off with a warning because I was honest with him in that I knew I was speeding. I was surprised and mentioned I didn't know what else I could've said. He just laughed and said I'd be surprised what some people try. He was a nice guy about it all.

So, in the end, will the warning change my ways? Not in the long term. Neither would have the ticket, but this way I have more respect for the RCs and their ability to recognize that I wasn't posing a danger to anyone, and use their judgement on whether I 'deserved' a ticket.

By the way, this was on a perfectly straight bit of dual lane, no junctions, around 6:20 pm, so not yet dark, in good conditions. Oh, and in Canada as well.

Form an orderly queue to immigrate...

Already have done mate

(well actually I'm on a work permit, but I've got nearly 3 years left on it )

Still, it's a bit of a struggle keeping to 110kph on some of the roads here - thank god for cruise control or I'd have a couple of tickets already
